Hello there! how are you doing? How has April been? Have you seen Solomon's Blank Cheque?
I know you are wondering, why my choice of this title. Underemployment, though often overshadowed by unemployment, has it’s consequences. It's a silent force that might affect ambition, motivation, and progress.
Most people are gingered by the challenges of unemployment, but a hidden danger lies beneath underemployment. This state traps individuals in jobs that neither utilize their full potential nor offer meaningful rewards. Underemployment has significant but mostly overlooked consequences.
Unlike the evident reality of unemployment, underemployment deceives one’s sense of security. The danger lies in accepting mediocrity instead of pursuing more stimulating work and professional growth. Underemployment can become a comfortable trap, hindering a person's ambition and drive. Engaging in unchallenging roles can also hinder skill acquisition and limit career progression.
The demands of an unfulfilling job leave little room for active career development. It might hinder one from the chance to invest in new skills, network, or search for a more fulfilling job. It creates a barrier to advancement and personal growth. How do you take a leave to travel for an interview for a better job? It might not be so easy.
There are bright sides to it, Half Bread they say, is better than none. Being Employed, no matter how poor it might be, you are sure to be occupied, remember, an idle hand is the devil’s workshop. There is at least a form of income flow, it poses you as valuable and serious-minded to people around you and also increases creditworthiness.
But Remember, in the process of holding on to one while waiting for a better opportunity, it’s important to be extremely valuable, go big on self-improvement, and be intentional about not settling for less, a certain level of extra tenacity might be needed
I pray dear Reader, that you’ll get a Job that makes you happy and fulfilled and if you have your dream Job already, You’ll grow and keep being happy. In Christ’s name.
