Been a while, guys! Hmm, Life happened. We move…
What’s Tabula Rasa? “Tabula Rasa” means Clean Slate, with no initial or original idea or knowledge.
According to a school of thought, At birth, a human’s heart (Mind) is a clean slate i.e. has no innate ideas, knowledge, or beliefs. Drawing from this, A Ten-year-old acting a certain way can attribute all that he knows and acts upon to Family influence, school, and peers.
Theology has a slightly different explanation for this but would also agree that the innate sin nature of man is bred upon by certain conditions and influences to manifest.
Largely if not totally, Our belief systems are shaped by life experiences and the knowledge we acquire. this in turn affects our actions and relationships with other people.
Consciously or subconsciously, things happened to us all in one way or the other. We’ve had opinions built on these good or bad experiences. Our values and priorities are different due to our different exposure in life.
As the cell of society, the family has the most impact in shaping culture, which sadly could be either bad or good.
So, I have a question, What makes people who had similar exposure and experience have drastically varied views? for example, Siblings.
to be continued…
You should share this.
Modupe.
Siblings although have the same exposure based on family background, they go to different schools and even if they go to the same, they have different friends, teachers, and meet different people from different places as they grow. Two people can never be the same even if they come from the same society, family, etc.
This is such a thought- provoking content. Great work 👏
