'Time is money' was used by Benjamin Franklin in his book, Advice to a Young Tradesman, which suggests that time should be spent wisely in order to earn money cause if this time is wasted, the opportunities to make money could be lost.
At a time in my Junior Secondary School, We were taken through a series of Time management classes. We even had a book for it and we did that every Friday. It was quite exhausting. To the kind of twelve-year-old that I was, it was too demanding for what I assumed was of little gain, I later understood a few concepts about time management and how it could affect our lives drastically. In one of the classes, our facilitator described time as Life. He said to us; “Time is Life” and that line stuck with me and it’s still with me.
True, time is money but time is first Life to every man before any other thing. Yesterday, I had a conversation with my friend about how to manage time as an Engineering student in a no-dulling institution coupled with so many responsibilities. I said Time is the basic unit of life measured in Seconds, Minutes, etc. But Time with respect to an individual is Age, an accumulation of Seconds, Minutes, etc. I hope I’m not saying too much. The Birthday and Aging concept is a reminder and appraisal of how far we’ve gone and how much we’ve done.
A few years back I also heard a popular analogy about time and work. In short, If you sleep 8 hours daily you’ve slept 33.3% of your life, plus 4 hours of chills making 12 hours, that’s 50% of a man’s life. You could be 30 but be 20 years old, it’s about the value born out of your time(Life) the impact, satisfaction, and completeness gotten. Read that again. They say, There is a reason why it is called Lifetime.
I’m not here to discuss how to go about managing your time, I have not even gotten there too. I am here to sound the alarm about the importance of Time and the weight it carries in our lives. In fact, it is our life. There should be a great sense of urgency attached to time.
The Clocks are ticking seconds by seconds and the Calendars are turning into old pieces of stuff year after year.
Every ticking of the clock is a countdown to the end of a man’s life and it is what it is.
Do you love this piece? Do well to share.
thank You, Celestina
for waking us to the consciousness of time as Life
As humans we're time-bounded.
You're indeed a Sense merchant
Hmmmmm.. Time is essential
